The renovation at Pikes Peak Community College included the Marie Walsh Sharpe Creative Commons, a multi-use state-of-the-art studio accompanied by the addition of a garden/outdoor studio along with another indoor 2-D art studio. Large airplane hangar-style doors were installed to open to views of Pikes Peak, taking full advantage of the magnificent views and natural light. These enhancements will boost what is already the only studio-based visual arts program at a public institution of higher education in the Pikes Peak Region. It is used by students, community members and established artists.
The renovation was completed in multiple areas that included a new HVAC system and extensive lighting upgrades with new lighting controls. New finishes were provided throughout the 10,000 sf student support spaces. These spaces at Pikes Peak Community College remained occupied and functioning throughout a majority of the construction process.
